The mission of First Christian Church is to expand the kingdom of God through evangelism, edification, exaltation, and extension.
Values dictate vision, so the vision statement of First Christian Church reveals the values we hold dear and hope to extend to future generations of Christians who will call First Christian Church home and will lead her to greater heights of service and love.
The focus of our vision is always people. God values people. He loves the lost, as so must we who are His church. Our vision's sharpest, clearest focus must always center in growth - the growth that comes from people's decisions to have Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Growth is not a matter of numbers. Growth is a matter on conversions - lives changed. Our vision is growth accomplished by reaching people of all ages, races, ethnicities, and life situations whit the love of Jesus Christ.
God values those who are in need. Thus, our vision is to minister to those in need. If they need spiritual direction, we want to provide it. If they need help with "lifestyle" issues, we want to provide Christian counsel and encouragement. We want to be known as a place where those who need help can get it. Our vision is to fully minister to "the least of these."
God values the people we may never meet. Thus, it is our vision to train, encourage, and support those who will leave our midst to go and serve Christ in different parts of our nation and throughout the world. We will encourage and support specialized Christian servants to take the good news of Jesus Christ to distant lands and diverse cultures.
We also value the influence of Christ's church within the community in which it is located. In an increasingly secular society people often lose their moral and ethical moorings. First Christian Church, working with other Christians in our community, seeks a growing influence in the community life of Meadville and Crawford County.
